HA! O Ye of little faith..... As usual I started getting the calls around 3pm checking to see if I was going to change the call of doing a Downwind. “It blowing SW”... “Out & Back”... “You going to change the call”.....NOPE! We stuck to our guns. Just a well. The SE came through with plenty puff to send us all the way to Big Bay. With the remaining SW chop and the new SE chop it actually made for some great lumps and bumps to ride.

Again I forgot to look at Small Bay to check the sand bar so I relied on what I was told by others being that it was a no go... ha... it seems that everything I say at briefings now a day is not quite the correct thing. Small bay was so on and almost cause an upset with the lead doubles. Dale & Phil (42:12) vs RichK & Tallon (42:08). Dale ended up close to Doodles and RichK further out. RichK thought that Dale & Phil were out of the picture only to spot them sneaking across from Small Bay. Fortunately for RichK, Dale & Phil thought they were still on the PE2EL and ran to the finish without their boat giving RichK & Tallon the victory. No sub 40’s posted. Not even by the doubles. Ralph and a spinning Larry (42:43) were 3rd doubles home.

Again the Bullets are showing the youngsters a thing or two  by claiming 4 out of the top 5 places. Eugene (42:42) was also the 3rd boat home overall. The Singles were led by Etienne(43:28) then Daan (46:55) who paddled to Milnerton from Big Bay before the Dash. The moment he arrived and turned his boat the start whistle was blown. No rest for the fit. Kev G (47:02) was third.

The SUP had their work cut out in the choppy conditions but the top men still managed sub 60’s. Chris (58:28) then brother Greg (59:45) and then Peter (1:00:18). The ladies kept clear of the yachts and trouble posting respectable times. Bridgette (1:13:29), Monika (1:20:31) and Michaela (1:24:16) in third. Azzra (1:29:46)was the 4th SUP lady home but was awarded the “Dances with Waves” for her time off the board.

5 PB's posted by all by new combinations.

FULL MOON DWD

Mmmm... hey RichK’s backso  now the SE will bugger off!! Well you know what Sherlock, you’re not far from the truth! The SE winds took a day off after a week of howling. So we had to do an out and back into a light SW breeze. Not a lot of us but enough to have fun especially with the braai upstairs afterwards and with the drunken swearing yachties!

The plan was as per normal for an out & backs... the lead boat would turn at 25min and the next craft would turn when the lead boat past them and so on... TWEET and we are off. Racing hard as always only to come across a young fella we all know as the premature starter but this time he has taken things to a new level. He was at least 200m off the beach heading out to sea when the start whistle sounded. Anyway Larry had a little more fun with Mark which reminded me of a “knock knock” joke...

The SUP’s had some issues with the yachts, especially Monika who was sworn at “to get the F^#$ out of the way” and they proceeded to sail over her board. The yacht should keep clear of the slow un-manoeuvrable SUP. Me thinks a little too much testosterone on one sail boat and thinks get fuzzy. Add to that a few beers and you had better get out of their way cause they now own the ocean. Anyway no harm to human and they all made it back safely.

See from the results all the ski’s finished within 3 minutes of each other. The SE did arrive around 8pm with rain and the moon rose without anyone seeing it.

Not to self. Don’t leave car keys in time keepers box or you will walk home at 1am......
