The long range forecast was about a day out but we still had great conditions – Strong SE wind – but with zip swell making it a little harder work and only 5 sub 40’s. Only 5, heck that’s actually dam good considering it was also low tide forcing most around the Big Bay rocks.

The SUP started half an hour before the paddlers and were soon out of site. the Surfski first start got off at a blistering pace set by Tallon and Eugene with Bianca hot on their rudders. The second start actually got a little working over by sudden wave but no swimmers there. except Ralph who hopped on and slid off the other side in one simple step.

“Dance with Waves” went to Jacques Weges for his double goof at first starts the back line but slipped the prize which was swiftly handed to Beatle because his son is still a bit young to take over just yet.

The Singles were dominated by Ian Trautmann even though he had just paddled from Big Bay into the wind to Milnerton before the Dash. Boris “Lucky Draw” Hales also had a stormer taking 1st Bullet/ 2nd single over the line. 15 Pb’s were recorded but a number of them being first timers or combo’s.

The SUP do not enjoy going cross wind so most took the run across the sand bar at Small Bay (see pics) turning the final leg into a foot sprint. The two Bertish brothers only 20seconds apart and Ivan van Vuuren another 20 or so behind them for 3rd.

It was great to see some of the Hout Bay lads join us and Dale Lippstreu cracked a PB and second in the Pace Makers class behind Shaun Butler.

Please make a plan to join us on the 1st of December for our Xmas party at Big Bay. We are going to have a lekker bash with a catered braai. Some free dops to keep us warm. Remember to paddle in your Santa hat/kit and wear red gear afterwards. We are also doing the charity collection of second hand toys so please ask around and bring them with you.
