A tough call. The Southerly did try and come through but only as far as Milnerton and very softly. At Big Bay a strong SW was blowing and with big surf any hopes of a DownWind had to be scuttled and we headed off to Milnerton for an out and back.

Milnerton was a classic high tide with big hollow sets breaking on the sand bank quite far out. The lucky thing was the 4 minutes between sets. Unluck for some who timmed it incorrectly. The "I lost my shorts" that Kevin Goodspeed did last summer was passed on to Phil Pla who after trying his lifejacket as pants settled for his top to recover some dignity in front of Maestro'.

Those that made it out split into two groups. One doing the classic harbour wall and back (8km) and some others who joind the yachts at the milnerton bouy and played on their slip towards Granger bay and back.

The return to the shore throught the surf was pretty straight forward with a few taking small tumbles in the foamies. Pistol Pete had fun in his new leaky craft to "Ooooh's and Aaaaah's" from the balcony.
